Bio for matthew, MS, LMFT
An avid outdoors person, matthew began his career in mental health working with adolescents-at-risk in wilderness therapy. As a senior field staff for Second Nature Wilderness Program in Utah, he was encouraged to attend graduate school and is trained in a feminist approach to systems therapy. matthew has a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University and continues to question whether writing a dissertation is a necessary thing to do. matthew is also involved in community organization and is passionate in both mental health awareness and suicide prevention. matthew developed the Behavioral Health Department for Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center and served as coordinator for that department for 8 years. In 2012, he opened a family business, Yoga Bean with the intention of creating community around yoga, organic coffee, music, and general well being. Currently, matthew is a stay at home dad and online instructor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He shares this life with his partner, Sara, 3 kids, Emma and Waylon, Ziggy the Old English Sheepdog, and 3 cats in Las Vegas.
